Credit Report
Everyone wants financial freedom, right? To be debt free is the American dream. Living without depending on credit cards sounds like a dream come true to some people. It's a fact, using a credit card forces a consumer to pay about thirty percent more for something that they could have just paid cash for in the first place. When you are on this path to a better debt free future, one of the first things to do is to see what exactly is listed on your credit report. Your credit report is constantly being altered to ensure up to date accuracy. A credit report or credit history covers a person or business's borrowed money and paid off debt, even bankruptcy. Detailed information is given regarding payment history of each credit debt. Although, keep in mind that credit reports will not necessarily note a consumers' credit score, unless specifically requested. When reviewing your credit report, verify that all the information about payment history and closed or written off accounts is correct. Negative information on your credit report can remain there for up to ten years, and have an effect on your credit score, if left unfixed.
The information on your credit report is used by credit lenders to determine if they should extend credit to you and on what terms, such as APR (annual percentage rate). It is common to see a person with an unsatisfactory credit report paying high interest rates on their loans. If you find yourself riddled with credit debt, gather all your credit cards and immediately cut them. Using cash for purchases is the only way out of debt. Next, budget your income to pay off your credit cards, by paying the highest debt (and highest interest rate) off first. Once that high interest rate credit card is paid off you move to the next one in line, and so on, until you are completely debt free.
Being debt free is the path to financial peace. Your credit report will "pass with flying colors" and you will have an impeccable credit score. This will allow you to make better decisions when using credit cards in the future.
