Credit Score Report

Everyone should know their credit score, it is vital in today's lifestyle. We all know that bankruptcies affect your credit score, but did you know that credit inquiries also affect your score? Don't just sit around waiting for that ding to get off your credit score report. Inquiries may take up to two years to be removed from your credit report. Did you know that there is something you can do about your inquiries?

When you review your credit score report, notice the inquiries at the end of the report that have been there for a while. Collect all of the addresses of all of the inquiries on your credit score report (they should be listed, if not contact the credit bureau). Next, you should prepare letters to each creditor asking them to remove the inquiry, denying that they had proper authorization to pull your credit file. There are sample letter you should find on the internet. Send the letters Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested so you can prove you sent the letters. Some creditors may respond to you with the authorization form you signed. You can respond by stating that it was too unclear or misinforming and that you demand to have the inquiry removed.

Some creditors will simply not respond at all. This is where the dated proof of letters becomes handy. Actually, this is a great situation for you because it doesn't really matter if you authorized the inquiry or not, the creditor did not respond to you within thirty days. You can contact the creditors by phone and let them know that the lack of response is unprofessional and that you demand to have the inquiry removed or you will complain to the State Banking Commission or any other authority. Stand your ground. Even if you remove some of those inquiries it will still improve your credit score report by enough points to make a difference.
